Thanks for the note - unfortunately, as it seems he never made a first team appearance for Southampton, he is not listed in any of my reference books. I have added what little information there was on www.allfootballers.com, and have changed the club order to agree with what they say, although this is no longer consistent with your narrative. [edit]Hi,
You quite rightly reverted some vandalism after I had edited it yesterday, but the weird thing is that there appears to be an edit missing from in between mine and yours. If you go forwards to mine, you can see my bona fide edits, but if you go back from yours to mine it looks like I was the one doing the vandalism. Any idea? Thanks for fixing it anyway, and at least you (hopefully) know my edits well enough to know I'm no vandal!:> WikiGull (talk) 16:10, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Courtetsy note
[edit]Hi there. This is a courtesy note to let you know that I mentioned your blog page here. As I said there, the matter being discussed doesn't seem to be that big a deal, but it was a good example of what I was discussing. I hope you don't mind that I used your blog page and posting as an example there. Carcharoth (talk) 18:13, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit]I notice your comment in the edit summary for this article - you wrote "no record of him playing in the "Arsenal Who's Who", which lists every post-war professional on the club's books." Is there any possibility that this person could have had any involvement with Arsenal in a playing capacity (beyond trialling) in 1960-1 without being listed in that book? Arsenal Reserve Squad Numbers
[edit]I made an edit to include the squad numbers of reserve players for Arsenal F.C.. They were deleted on the basis that in reserve games players are awarded numbers 1-11, which I understand completely. I would however like to suggest though that they are allowed, as these squad numbers are based on the Champions League Squad list given to UEFA. I feel the information is useful as it indicates which reserve and youth team players are closer to the first team, based on been rewarded with their own squad number. They can't appear on the main squad (quite rightly), having not made an apperance or been selected for any match squads. So in summary I'm asking for them to be included with a foot note saying "during reserve games players wear numbers 1-11". I hope you understand my argument and thank you for your time.

Andy Hessenthaler's dad
[edit]Hi Qwghlm
For my birthday I got a CD of an audio interview with Gills legend Andy Hessenthaler, and in answer to the very first question he mentions that his dad once played for Arsenal. I take this to mean that he was at best a youth/reserves player, so this is an extreme longshot, but I don't suppose you have any source that mentions when he was there, what level he reached, or even what his first name is/was........?
Cheers!!!! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:35, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Arsenal Squad List
[edit]Hi Chris
Could you please sort out the squad list issue. You can read Arsenal's main discussion page and my own for the back ground story. Someone is persisting on doing it by his own guild lines and not Wikipedia's. Of the 20 Premier League teams only Blackburn's is done the way he is suggesting, the other 19 are the traditional way. He is moving players who have played for the first team (now squad players) and adding the reserves to the main list, when there is a link (their own page) to them directly below. (ArsenalWiki (talk) 00:30, 17 July 2009 (UTC))
- I'm doing it by Arsenal's guidelines, not my own and certainly not Wikipedia's, because frankly we don't have the authority to make up our own squad guidelines. I don't think Qwghlm totally agrees with me on this matter but at the very least he understands what the discussion is about. Eightball (talk) 19:54, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
Child editor at Cesc Fabregas page
[edit]Hi, yet another child wishes to deface the page -- adding illegal images, removing text and references arbitrarily, and making illogical edits. Frankly, I'm sick of dealing with so many children on WP, it seems as though I'm the only who keeps the Arsenal GAs and FAs in proper shape. Would appreciate if you could take a look. Billy Milne, manager of LONDON XI
[edit]Hi, you started the article of Billy Milne a scottish arsenal player. He later was manager and fisioterapist on arsenal and england team.
Researching for a Fairs Cup article in spanish edition i have found this article on a spanish newspaper.
"In this link (in spanish) there is a cronicle of the final match of the first FAIRS CUP (1955-58) between FC Barcelona and London XI, a selection of london-teams players that represents the city of london (arsenal, chelsea, totenham,crystal palace, west ham,etc). In the same cronicle you can read an interview to the manager of LONDON XI, some called "WILLIAM MILSNE" in fact i think is WILLIAM MILNE, the spanish journalist says is from arsenal... i tihnk is billy milne in functions of LONDON XI manager.
The journalist says Milne is "assistant of arsenal" and doing "functions of manager of LONDON XI" during the Fairs Cup... some to add to honours of Billy Milne.
Sorry for my totally crap english!!! Crvnts (talk) 05:07, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi again, in these other link there is a cronicle of the day before the match, when London XI arrived to barcelona at the airport, another interview with Billy Milne, in this ocasion bad written again, as "Mr W. Wilne" :) these kind of errors was usual at the time of the cronicle, you know... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Crvnts (talk • contribs) 05:29, 16 April 2010 (UTC) Crvnts (talk) 05:30, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

London Wikimedia Fundraiser
[edit]Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.
Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 23:47, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Arsenal Shareholders
[edit]Hi Chris. I see that you have updated the Arsenal Shareholders section on the Ownership of Arsenal page. There are a few things that have been missed by virtually everybody as they just digest the media splurge and take it as gospel. Kroenke hasn't bought Fizsman's shares. Kroenke has an option to buy and Fizsman has an option to sell these shares to each other when they want to. The full press release is here: http://www.plus-sx.com/newsItem.html?newsId=1155049 (Item 11 - The option agreement). I could try to re-write the article but it would end up a mess. Also, Kroenke was obliged to make an offer for the other shareholder's shares because his own shareholding went over 30%, not because he is the majority shareholder (not that he is anyway). Any chance you could re-write it incorporating the true figures? Goonerak (talk) 14:56, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
MSU Interview
[edit]Dear Qwghlm,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at obar@msu.edu (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at obar@msu.edu. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.11.206.39 (talk) 03:51, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity
[edit]Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in over one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e. as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. If it needs tweaking, or if it needs rewording to match improvements to the article between now and its main page appearance, please edit it, following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. The blurb as it stands now is below:
The history of Arsenal Football Club between 1886 and 1966 covers the time from the club's foundation, through the first two major periods of success and their subsequent decline to mid-table status. Arsenal was founded in 1886 as a workers' team from Woolwich, South East London. They turned professional in 1891 and joined the Football League two years later, winning promotion into the First Division in 1904. Arsenal was bought out in 1910 by Sir Henry Norris, and he moved the team to Arsenal Stadium in Highbury, North London, in 1913 to improve their financial standing. It was not until the appointment of Herbert Chapman as manager that Arsenal had their first period of major success; under him and his successor George Allison, Arsenal won five First Division titles and two FA Cups in the 1930s. After the Second World War, Tom Whittaker continued the success, leading the club to two First Division titles and another FA Cup. Arsenal's fortunes gradually declined; by 1966, they were in mid-table obscurity and had not won a trophy in thirteen years. This led to the dismissal of Billy Wright as manager, and with it the appointment of Bertie Mee. (Full article...)

Proposed deletion of List of British Asian people
[edit]The article List of British Asian people has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- The list has been here since 2005 but has attracted only 6 entries. It serves little purpose as against the extensive lists of British Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Global account
[edit]Hi Qwghlm! As a Steward I'm involved in the upcoming unification of all accounts organized by the Wikimedia Foundation (see m:Single User Login finalisation announcement). By looking at your account, I realized that you don't have a global account yet. In order to secure your name, I recommend you to create such account on your own by submitting your password on Special:MergeAccount and unifying your local accounts. If you have any problems with doing that or further questions, please don't hesitate to ping me with {{ping|DerHexer}}. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 23:59, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of Caesar Jenkyns
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Caesar Jenkyns requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Royal League finals
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:Royal League finals indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". The article Farhad Moshiri (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Disambiguation page not required (WP:ONEOTHER). Primary topic article has a hatnote to the only other use.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 10:26, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
