[edit]There are 12 and not 11 conventions on terrorism.
In the section which details article 4 of the 3rd Geneva Convention appertaining to the definition of a cpmbatant would it not be prudent to take note of article 5 of the same convention which ensures the same protection, as defined in the convention regarding defineable combatants, to those whose participation in a conflict cannot be defined.
- The current article lists 13 conventions. Are there 12 or 13? Also what countries have ratified all of them? Lambanog (talk) 14:21, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

cited references and further reading
[edit]There are not enough cited references for many of the facts in this article particularly were there are either no links to other wikipedia articles or the links are in red.
The list in the Further reading section is way too long. If the books and articles are unlikely to be used as references for this article they should be removed, or at least pruned back to no more than half a dozen. -- PBS (talk) 10:33, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
Copy-paste of Copyrighted Material
[edit]The description of the various multilateral conventions seems to have come from material prepared by UN Treaty Department and the UN CTC (See: CTC and UNDOC). Although this is old material in WP (it has been here at least since 2005,) I propose deleting the descriptions and leaving - just for now - only the name of the documents and the links, if any. On the medium term, once we have developed a separate WP article for each convention, this article should probably be replaced by a category. I'm already working on the individual articles of a few of the more recent instruments, but it will take a while.-- Bonifacius 21:12, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- If it is a copy violation it must be removed sooner rather than later. However Please see this conversation Talk:English Council of State which might help with editing it so that it no longer is. -- PBS (talk) 03:18, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- PBS, this IS a violation of copyright. It is more than a list; the problem are the summaries. On the other hand, if we delete those summeries, this page would be just a copy of Anti-terrorism legislation#International conventions related to terrorism and counter-terrorism cases. And in that case, we would need either to delete this page, or to take out the conventions from the legislation page. In any case, this page would be reduced to a list of links. I think that it would be better and simpler just to use "Category:International conventions on terrorism" in its place. Give me a few days. I'll create stubs for the various conventions, with new summaries, and then we can decide what to do with this page. -- Bonifacius 14:06, 11 February 2010 (UTC)

- It is quite common on Wikipedia to have a chronological list article and a category as the category sorts alphabetically which is often not the most useful format for a set of names. -- PBS (talk) 05:24, 12 February 2010 (UTC)

- PBS, I like your redirect. A bit radical, but not bad at all. Most of the material in the old International conventions on terrorism was already included in the legislation page - except for the part of the International Criminal Court, but that was poorly referenced. You are right on the cronological list. Cheers!-- Bonifacius 07:25, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
